The “Google Doodle” goes gobble-gobble with a turkey designed to look like a schoolchild’s elaborate hand-turkey project.
“Creating hand turkeys remains one of my favorite elementary school memories — glue on the table, colorful feathers stuck to your sleeve and glitter everywhere,” writes “Doodler” Willie Real on the Google Blog. ”This year, you have the option to skip the actual mess involved with making these classic Thanksgiving decorations and craft a unique turkey from the comfort of the Google homepage.”
To indulge your outer child, click on the bird’s crown and you get to choose from a dozen looks — from blond wig to wizard’s hat, from glasses to, fittingly, a football helmet that would do John Madden proud.
Click on each feather and you also get a dozen choices of wildly colorful plumage.
Click on the turkey feet and you can shod the bird a half-dozen different ways — from skates to cleats to peg-leg.
And click on the wing and you get a fast-paced flurry of mix-and-match looks.
Google also provides a link for you to share the “Doodle” via Google+ (handy promotion, that) or you can send your URL. “This way,” Google says of the Doodle, which will be up in the U.S. through Thanksgiving, “all your friends and family, wherever they may be, can see your festive creation.”
