Amazon to Hire Hundreds of Full Time Workers

On Monday, Amazon.com announced that it was hiring hundreds of full-time workers for its Tennessee distribution centers.
“We’re looking forward to opening our first two facilities in Tennessee this fall, creating 1,200 jobs in Bradley and Hamilton Counties,” said Dave Clark, vice president of North American operations for Amazon. “We’re committed to growth in Tennessee because the people here have demonstrated their commitment to Amazon jobs and investment.”
In addition, the company said it was evaluating locations for as many as three new shipping centers in Tennessee, creating up to 2,700 full-time jobs and as many as 4,000 seasonal jobs.
The news comes as lawmakers consider a plan that would force Amazon to collect the state's sale tax.
Many business owners believe a deal former Gov. Phil Bredesen made with Amazon has given the company an unfair advantage.
Amazon has threatened to leave Tennessee if it's forced to collect the tax.
