LG Revolution to Land on Verizon May 26

If you’ve been waiting for a decent 4G LTE phone on Verizon Wireless and haven’t been impressed with the HTC Thunderbolt or the Samsung Droid Charge, LG is getting into the game with the LG Revolution.
The Revolution will be a 4G LTE phone running Android 2.2 “Froyo,” and will launch with support for the newly-released Netflix Android app.
The LG Revolution will be Verizon Wireless’ third 4G LTE phone, and according to a spec sheet obtained by DroidLife, it’ll hit store shelves on May 26th, the same day as the Sony Xperia Play and the Droid X2. In addition to being a 4G device, the Revolution will feature a 4.3-inch screen, a 5-megapixel, auto-focusing camera on the back, and a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front for video calls. It’ll be able to record video at 720p as well.
You’ll also get all of the standard bells and whistles with the Revolution, including Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS, even an HDMI port. Under the hood, you’ll find a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor , and the phone will launch with Android 2.2 “Froyo,” although why LG decided against including 2.3 “Gingerbread” is anyone’s guess. The phone will come pre-loaded with a 16GB microSD card that can be swapped out for up to 32GB.
The Revolution will also feature Qi wireless charging, so you’ll be able to recharge the battery by placing the phone on a charging pad – but of course the charging pad isn’t included with the phone. You’ll have to buy the pad separately. If you have no plans on buying the pad, you can charge over USB.
Another feature in the spec sheet worth noting is that LG has decided on Bing search instead of Google search as the default for the Revolution, the same way Samsung did with the Fascinate. That move earned Samsung wide scorn, and it’s doubtful that the Revolution will escape the same fate. Launching an Android phone with Bing Search and Bing Maps instead of Google Search and Google Maps is a tough sell for most Android users.
The Revolution will, however, feature Netflix, so if you’re a Netflix subscriber you can enjoy streaming movies and TV shows on that huge 4.3-inch screen.
