Google Search Monopoly

In the past few years, Microsoft and Yahoo have been calling foul off and on again against Google.
Both Microsoft and Yahoo claim that Google has a search engine monopoly.  This is true and not true.  Yes Google has a massive chunk of the market share, but you have a choice on what search engine you choose.  No matter where you live (barring any government restrictions, server outages, or other problems), you can choose if you want to go to google.com, bing.com, or yahoo.com and do your searches.

In my opinion, Google is the best, but that is because I have my searches based on my gmail, docs, blogs, etc.  Bing attacks Google as a search engine that brings up everything in the universe, I have seen Bing being a lot like Google in that aspect when I use it.  When I use Bing, it seems overly complicated;  it also takes several minutes to load on my LG Ally (yes, I know, it is a Google Android phone running Froyo {2.2}), but all of the background images take up a lot of space and memory.  I have not seen anything that would change me over from a disciple of our Google overlords.

Yahoo is nice in that you can find games, news, etc. on the homepage.  On Google, you can't find any games and the news button is quite small.  For searches Yahoo just can't keep up.  If your the tabloid junky that is addicted to reading about the newest celebrity to be sentenced to jail for 13 months on drug charges and then get out after a few days, then Yahoo is the place to go.

Google has dozens of products that you can use for free.  They include GMAIL, EARTH, BLOGGER, DOCS, YOUTUBE, BOOKS, KNOL, MAPS, PANORAMIO, VOICE, TALK, SKETCH UP, and  my favorite web browser, CHROME.  If you have a Google Account (@gmail.com email), you can tailor your search results to bring up your favorite websites first, among others.

Basically, if Microsoft or Yahoo want me to covert from a Google disciple, they will have to stop pouting, get rid of the tabloid-ness, get rid of the crappy backgrounds, get rid of the spam in their emails (@yahoo.com and @hotmail.com), and come out with some good products.
